A Virginia woman was arrested Tuesday after leaving two toddlers inside a vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Police were called to the Fair City Mall parking lot about 5 p.m., where the two one-year-olds were alone in a car. They'd been left there for about 12 minutes when the outside air temperature was 86 degrees, City of Fairfax Police said.

Melissa Anne Tadokoro, 48, of Fairfax, was arrested after she returned to the vehicle. Police said she had been shopping.

Tadokoro was charged with child abuse and neglect. Bond was set at $3,000.

The children weren't hurt, police said.
