Wheaton Homicide Suspect Turns Self In

Second culprit sought

A suspect in the slaying of a college student from Wheaton, Md., turned himself in to police early Tuesday.

Corey Yates, 21, of southeast D.C., and another man are accused in the Dec. 21 death of Dudley Derose, a student at Virginia State University who was home for the holidays.

Derose was trying to prevent two men from entering his house on Hutchison Lane in Wheaton when a shot was fired through the door, striking Derose.

Police are still searching for a second culprit.
