Water Main Break Closes MacArthur Boulevard in NW DC

A busy northwest Washington street reopened Thursday afternoon after a water main break flooded the roadway and tore up the pavement.

The broken 8-inch water main on 47th Place between MacArthur Boulevard and Reservoir Road closed the 4600 and 4700 blocks of MacArthur in both directions for several hours, DC Water said.

Several homes in the area were affected by the water main break, DC Water says.

Drivers were told to use Reservoir Road, Canal Road or Foxhall Road as an alternate.
