Family and friends gathered Thursday evening to remember a Prince William County police officer killed on New Year’s Eve.

The wake for 35-year-old Officer Chris Yung was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge, va.

Yung was on his motorcycle responding to a call when a minivan crashed into him. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Yung had been with the department for seven years and worked with the traffic unit. He had previously served in the United States Marine Corps.

Police said the minivan was turning left into a shopping center and passed in front of Yung, who was heading south on Nokesville Road to the scene of another accident. The vehicles caught fire when they collided. The investigation is ongoing.

Yung's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hylton Memorial.
