Valentine's Day Is Wedding Day for DC Couples

Over a dozen couples waited at D.C. Superior Court to be married on Valentine's Day

As people across the D.C. region celebrated Valentine's Day, more than a dozen couples waited inside room 690 at D.C. Superior Court ready to say two words: I do.

โ€œA happy wife is a happy life,โ€ Savonne Pryor said. She beamed as she stood outside the courtroom in a frilly white wedding dress, wearing a jeweled tiara and veil.

Her groom, Bernard Pryor, said he and his soon-to-be-wife had been together for eight years.

โ€œI got the woman of my life,โ€ he  said.

His bride smiled from ear to ear.

โ€œIt feel like a blessing,โ€ she said.

Fellow groom Kensly Dougan has similar feelings as he waited for his bride to arrive.

โ€œIโ€™m ready for us to just be official,โ€ he said.

Kensly Dougan said he had waited 10 years to marry the woman of his dreams. Just before 1:30 p.m., the wait was over. His bride, Danielle Dougan, emerged from the doorway.

โ€œOoh, my baby,โ€ her father said as the family stood to hug the bride.

โ€œIt just feels right. Heโ€™s my best friend,โ€ Danielle Dougan said.

In front of their family, the Dougans made it official.

โ€œThese two really sure show that they want to be together,โ€ a child with the couple said as a tear rolled down his cheek.
