Two Teens Hospitalized in Charles County Shooting

Incident happened after midnight on January 7

Police officers were able to connect two different 911 calls placed last Saturday to each other, a shooting, and possibly a robbery.

Just minutes after midnight last Saturday, police responded to a reported shooting on the 6600 block of Bucknell Road in Bryans Road, Maryland.  Authorities say a 16-year-old male had gunshot wounds to his torso.  He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Around the same time, police got a call for a victim shot on the 2400 block of Gerard Court.  Responding officers found a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his torso.  He was transported from his residence to the hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators found that earlier in the evening, the 16-year-old and friends of his were involved in an altercation with the 19-year-old and his friends near the intersection of Bucknell Road and Chippewa Street. Shots were fired, and two young men were hit. The 19-year-old man ran back to his residence and the 16-year-old minor collapsed on the scene.

Police say that after further investigations, 18-year-old Terence Andrew Dyson, Jr., of Pomfret was declared a suspect.  Dyson, a friend of the 19-year-old who was involved in the shooting, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, theft, and carrying a handgun. Dyson was sent to the Charles County Detention Center. Detectives are looking at robbery as a possible motive.
