A man and woman were killed early Wednesday morning in a motorcycle accident at the River Road exit off of the Beltway, according to Maryland State Police.
The incident happened at about 2:50 a.m. State troopers at the scene said it appeared the two missed their exit and somehow lost control. The motorcycle was speeding when it hit a guardrail, Maryland State Police said.
Christopher Walker, 27, of Kensington, and Kristen Wolcott, 26, of Hyattsville, were thrown from the motorcycle in two different directions. Both died at the scene.
The crash happened at the bottom of the ramp from the Inner Loop of the Beltway to River Road. The ramp was closed until 6:45 a.m., causing a bit of a backup on the Beltway.
Investigators are looking in to whether alcohol played a role.
