MISS DC HOPES TO HIT JACKPOT IN VEGAS
Miss D.C. hopes to hit it big this month in Las Vegas.

Jen Corey, 22, is getting ready for the 2010 Miss America Pageant. She graduated from American University, and hopes to wow the judges with her voice. She’ll be singing opera for the talent portion.

    OREGON UNDERWEAR THIEF GETS PROBATION
A Salem man caught while wearing his female neighbor's underwear this summer has pleaded guilty to burglary. Marion County Judge Albin Norblad on Monday sentenced 48-year-old Randall J. Giesbers to three years probation.

Prosecutor Courtland Geyer sought a four-year prison sentence, noting that the victim repeatedly had the woman's "intimate items" stolen in the year leading to the August arrest. (WTOP)

    WORLD'S FIRST SEX ROBOT
A New Jersey company says it has developed "the world's first sex robot," a life-size rubber doll that's designed to engage the owner with conversation rather than lifelike movement.

At a demonstration at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas on Saturday, the dark-haired, negligee-clad robot said "I love holding hands with you" when it sensed that its creator touched its hand. (Yahoo News)

COUPLE COLLECTS CANS TO PAY FOR WEDDING
Love for each other and the environment — and creative thriftiness — have prompted a Spokane couple to collect aluminum cans to help pay for their wedding.

Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer already have more than 18,000 cans in their living room — nearly 5 percent of their goal of collecting 400,000 of the containers. (MSNBC)
