Frederick County Man Says He Wanted to be Tasered

Suspect resists arrest to force Tasing

An Emmitsburg, Md. man told police he resisted arrest because he wanted to be Tasered.

Ronald Divel was arrested Sunday night in a corn field near Annandale Road and Toms Creek according to a report in the Frederick News Post.

Divel is the suspect in the theft of a garden tractor and dump cart that was taken from a residents in the 9400 block of Waynesboro Pike.

Deputy First Class Michael Sutton says he was flagged down while on patrol, and told about the stolen equipment.

The victim told Sutton he had tracked the suspect to a residence.

Sutton located the suspect who ran into the corn field, refusing orders to stop.

Sutton says he feared for his safety and discharged his Taser into Divel's chest and right arm.

Divel says he resisted because he wanted to know what it felt like to be hit with Taser probes.

He also told the deputy that he had permission to use the tractor.

Divel was released from the Frederick County Detention Center on personal recognizance.
