A Loudoun County school bus veered off the road and hit a tree, but some students and the driver of the bus only sustained minor injuries.

Loudoun County schools spokesman Wayde Byard says the bus was taking 37 students to Mountain View Elementary School in H when it crashed in Purcellville on Friday around 7:30 a.m. A number of students and the driver were taken to a hospital as a precaution. Some were treated for cuts and bloody noses and released.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Liz Mills says it was not immediately clear what caused the bus to leave the road, but authorities were investigating.
