A suspected shoplifter fled from a department store and onto the tracks at a Metro station in Pentagon City Tuesday evening, according to a Metro spokesperson.

Security personnel from the Nordstrom store located in Pentagon City Mall chased the suspect out of the store and into the Pentagon City Metro station around 8 p.m., Metro said.  The man then jumped onto the tracks, where transit police eventually caught him.  Arlington County police were called to take the suspect into custody.

Metro temporarily stopped trains and riders experienced delays on both directions on the Blue and Yellow lines.
