Shooting Near Springfield Marriott

    Gov. David Paterson signed a bill this morning that bans authorities from compiling the names and addresses of the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who are detained by police each year in stop-and-frisks but are not arrested.

    A shooting took place near the Marriott Courtyard in Springfield, Va., on Saturday night.

    Fairfax County Police Department investigators responded to a report of a shooting at 6700 Commerce Street at about 9:43 p.m. A man was discovered in front of the Marriott Courtyard suffering from a gunshot wound.

    The victim was shot in the head and survived the shooting. He is conscious, but there is no more information on his condition at this time.

    Fairfax County Police are searching for three men driving a red Ford SuperCrew pickup truck. Ford SuperCrew trucks have four doors.
