UVA Student Killed in Accident

A young woman from Falls Church was killed when she was hit by a boat propeller while snorkeling in the Caribbean. Casey Schulman was there as part of the Semester at Sea program. News4's Darcy Spencer reports.

Falls Church native Casey Schulman -- a University of Virginia senior -- died Saturday in a boating accident off the Caribbean island of Dominica. News4's Darcy Spencer spoke to her family by phone.

Friends and family will gather Saturday to remember the life of a Northern Virginia student who was killed while studying abroad.

22-year-old Casey Schulman died after she was struck by a dive boat's propeller off the island of Dominica December 1.

The University of Virginia senior was taking part in a Semester at Sea program.

Schulman was a 2009 graduate of Stuart high school in Falls Church.

The public memorial is being held at the Kennedy Center at 11 a.m. Saturday
