Residents Urged to Lock Up After Series of Burglaries

Police in Falls Church, Virginia, are reminding residents to lock their doors and windows after a series of burglaries were reported in the city and nearby Arlington County.

The most recent case happened Tuesday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at a home on Great Falls Street. Police say nothing was taken from the home, but it was clear someone had entered and rummaged multiple rooms for jewelry, cash and small electronics.

Similar daytime burglaries were reported in the northern portion of Arlington County in September. Police say in many of those cases the homes were unlocked or a small window was used to gain access.

All of the crimes happened in both occupied and unoccupied homes.

Police urge residents to secure their windows and doors; they should also report any suspicious activity they may see.
