Officer Fired on Suspect After Being Hit by Car

A Bladensburg, Maryland, police officer was injured when he was struck by a vehicle, causing a police-involved shooting early Sunday morning.

Officials said Officer Michael Luciotti responded to reports of domestic assault in the 4300 block of Kenilworth Avenue, in Bladensburg, Maryland, around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. While at the scene, Luciotti attempted to arrest a man, who attempted to leave in a car.

Authorities said the man pinned the officer against a parked car with his car, causing Luciotti to fire his service revolver at the suspect. The man fled, and he was located later and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Luciotti was taken to the hospital. He was treated and released.

The suspect has not been identified, and there is no information about what charges he might face.
