Aberdeen police released photos of a man believed to be Vi Ripken’s kidnapper.

The mother of Baltimore Orioles Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. was abducted, bound and blindfolded at her Aberdeen home Tuesday morning, then driven around Harford and Baltimore counties in her 1998 Lincoln Town Car. After a witness reported seeing a woman tied up in the backseat of a car about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police ran the license plate, learned it was Mrs. Ripken’s car and started a missing person search.

Mrs. Ripken, 74, was found in her neighborhood about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday with her hands bound in the backseat of her car. Paramedics checked her out, and she appeared to be physically fine.

The abductor’s motive is unknown. No ransom demands were made.

Police are looking for a white man in his mid-30s to early 40s, standing 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He had short brown hair and was wearing glasses, a light-colored shirt and camouflage pants. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance images or knows something about the case should call Aberdeen police at 410-835-5432. Anonymous tips can be made online or by texting a message beginning with “MCS” to 274637.
