    Police Identify Suspect in VA Home Break-In, Sexual Assault

    Police issued two warrants for the man they say broke into a home and sexually assaulted a woman early Saturday morning in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, Virginia.

    Edwin Ponce Martinez, 22, is charged with burglary and rape.

    A 51-year-old woman said a man entered her home in the 8400 block of Blankenship Street about 3 a.m. Saturday while she slept. She told police he threatened and sexually assaulted her. He also burglarized the home before leaving, police said.

    The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital.

    Fairfax County Police are handing out flyers in an Alexandria neighborhood where a man allegedly broke into a woman's house Saturday and sexually assaulted her. News4's Darcy Spencer is learning more about how the suspect broke in and whether or not he knew the victim.

    Martinez may go by the name Javier, police said.

    He is between 5-feet-2-inches and 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds with a small build, police said.
