Police: Burglar Tries to Grab Girl Through Window

Prince William County Police are searching for a man who reached through the bedroom window of a sleeping girl and tried to grab her.

Officers were called to the 1400 block of Horner Road in Woodbridge on September 8 at 3:17 a.m. for a report of a burglary in progress.

The homeowner told police her 12-year-old daughter woke up to a stranger grabbing her through her open window. The girl screamed, and the would-be burglar ran away.

"The victim did the right thing. She immediately realized something was wrong and she screamed and most times, that will cause the suspect to flee," Jonathan Perok with Prince William County Police said.

The girl was not injured, and no property was taken from the home.

A police K-9 was used to search the area just off Route 1, but the suspect was not found. Police then went door-to-door, alerting neighbors of the incident.

The victim was unable to give a complete description of the man.
