Metrobus Catches Fire in Southeast

NBCWashington.com

D.C. Fire and EMS extinguished a bus fire in Southeast Wednesday afternoon.

A bus on the A6 line to Anacostia caught fire in the 900 block of Southern Avenue.

The bus's fire suppression system activated and knocked down the fire, which did not spread beyond the engine area.

About 20 people were on board. No injuries were reported.

Metro is investigating the cause.

Last month, Metro pulled almost 100 buses from service after two Orion VI model buses caught fire. The bus that caught fire Wednesday is not realated. It is a 2006 NewFlyer Clean Diesel model bus.
