Man Stabbed Outside Minnesota Ave Metro Station

Station briefly closed Sunday morning

The Minnesota Avenue Metro station was briefly closed Sunday morning after a man was stabbed outside the station.

A Metro spokesperson said that a 19-year-old man was stabbed while the station was closed early Sunday morning. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said that the man suffered a non-life threatening laceration wound on his lower torso. The victim, whose name has not been released, was listed as being in stable condition at an area hospital.

Investigators believe that the stabbing was the result of an altercation between the victim and another person while they were waiting for the station to open. No arrests have been made in the case.

WMATA requested shuttle bus service to run between the Deanwood and Stadium/Armory station, but train service was restored to the Minnesota Avenue station shortly before 8 a.m.
