Man Found Shot Dead in Burning Car

A man who was found dead in his burning car in Southeast after a car accident had been shot, police discovered.

Metropolitan Police Department officers discovered Seat Pleasant, Md., resident Delonte Butler early Saturday morning at the 3700 block of 1st Street Southeast. Police were responding to a report of a single-vehicle accident.

When they arrived, they discovered that the vehicle was burning. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, they found 29-year-old Butler, who had been shot.

Butler showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police received the call at about 4:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.
