Man Broke Into Home, Sexually Assaulted Woman in the Middle of the Night, Sheriff Says

Police are investigating a reported sexual assault in Sterling, Virginia, after a woman said she woke up in the middle of the night to discover a stranger had broken into her home and was touching her.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said the reported assault took place in the 120 block of N Duke Drive, where a woman said a man sexually assaulted her in her apartment shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

Neighbors reported seeing a large police response and the Loudoun County Sheriff said the case is special.

"It's unique and it concerns us quite a bit and that's why we want to have everybody out there that's got any idea what might have happened, any possible suspects in mind, may have heard or seen anything in the neighborhood, we want to know about it," Michael Chapman, the sheriff, said.

Neighbors say they are on edge, especially because there were no visible signs of a forced break-in.

"That situation is not normal here. This area is so good," Marian Meija, a neighbor, said.

Police describe the suspect as a man about 20-years-old with curly dark hair and a slight build. Anyone with information is asked to call 703-777-1021.
