FAIRFAX, Va. -- A Fredericksburg man abducted a woman he met on Craigslist, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Gregory Rother, 26, visited the 23-year-old victim at an apartment in the 12100 block of Elm Forest Way Saturday evening, police said. Once inside, he allegedly carried her into a bedroom and ordered her to get undressed, police said.

Brandishing two knives, Rother allegedly blocked the door with a piece of furniture and smashed several things inside the apartment before ordering the woman to get dressed and forcing her to get into a car outside, police said.

Rother is accused of forcing the woman to drive him at knifepoint.

Police became involved when Rother and his alleged captive drove past a George Mason University police officer, who the woman signaled. The officer followed them, and at a stop sign near Stoughten Road and Stonewall Avenue, the woman jumped out of the car and ran to the officer, police said.

Rother was charged with public drunkenness, aggravated sexual battery, abduction, felony destruction of property and assault.
