MARC Service Suspended After Train Strikes Vehicle; 1 Person Injured

One person is injured and MARC Camden Line service is suspended during the Friday evening commute after a train struck a vehicle in Beltsville, Maryland, fire officials say.

The train struck an occupied vehicle in the 5700 block of Sunnyside Avenue, according to Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesperson Mark Brady.

Firefighters extricated the driver from the car. They were taken to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries, Brady said.

No other passengers were in the car and no one on the train was hurt, Brady said.

MARC Camden line service was temporarily suspended due to the crash, the Maryland Transportation Administration said.

MTA said Metro will honor tickets for Camden line passengers.

Some MARC trains are experiencing delays. See MTA's website for updates.
