An Upper Marlboro man on active duty in Africa was killed in plane crash on February 18.

Senior Airman Julian S. Scholten, 26, was one of four killed when their U-28 aircraft went down.

Scholten, assigned to the 25th Intelligence Squadron, and three officers assigned to special operations units were on a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Their aircraft crashed near Camp Lemonnier, in Djibouti.  The cause remains under investigation.
