High School Students Clean Park, Find Body Body was found in Anacostia River

Updated 8:31 AM EDT, Fri, Oct 31, 2008

High school students who took a trip Thursday to help clean up a Northeast park found more than trash -- they found a man's body floating in the Anacostia River, according to The Washington Post.

About 70 students from The Field School were picking up trash in Marvin Gaye Park as part of a community project when several students saw the body in the water, a school official told the paper.

Police said an autopsy will be conducted to see how the man died.

For some reason, my science teacher thought it would be a good idea to tell us about this incident the day before we went on the trip. None of us wanted to go after hearing that. Luckily, we did not find any dead bodies, but we did find lots of trash and dirty, polluted water ... MORE >

  • GiveMeABreak! Saturday, Nov 1 at 7:01 AM FLAG COMMENT Umm Neh, Racial profiling?! Are you serious? It sounds like you are the one who did the profiling. You are the one who thought drug overdose = all the brothers. Let me ask you, are the newspapers racist because they print in black? Get over yourself already. I bet it is "whiteys" fault they overdosed (if in fact that is what happened) too? Ehhh you aren't worth it... Small minded people.

  • mitzy Friday, Oct 31 at 3:06 PM FLAG COMMENT i read this story in the post paper this morning, i think that it was wrong for them to print that the person may have overdosed, before an autopsy was done. sounds like racial profiling to me.
