Ladies, there's no need to work on your dance moves or your abs. Just show up to practice. It helps if you bring cameras.
How do you become a Redskins cheerleader?
If you're a wannabe quasi-celebrity, you just sort of show up to practice. That's what alleged White House party-crasher Michaele Salahi did with her appearance with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Alumni Association, reports the Post.
Salahi, who appears to be quite the master of disguise, performed at halftime with the Association during the Sept. 20 game against the Rams.
During rehearsals for the performance, nobody could quite remember ever seeing her before. And the attention-craving almost-has-been couldn't remember who her choreographer was or, most importantly, what the actual cheers or moves were. "Hail to the Redskins. Hail something-something?"
She made her grand entrance with Bravo's TV cameras close behind. The shooting reportedly disrupted the rehearsal, with her awkward small talk, reshoots, and requests to accommodate the filming.
A TV producer asked the cheerleader who was leading the group, Sheryl Olecheck, if she could move Salahi to the front row so the cameras could pick her up better. Olecheck told the paper that she said no because "she was too tall and couldn't dance."
She's listed on the group's roster as having performed with the team in 1991. But the group's president told the paper that "[w]e have no record that she ever was a Redskins cheerleader. She was listed on our 1991 roster at Ms. Salahi's request and based on her misrepresentation to us."
It's awfully convenient that she picked 1991 out of a hat. As any burgundy-blooded Skins fan knows, that's the last time the team won the Super Bowl. (Cheering during the Richie Petitbon era must not have the same cache.)
So is this terrible faker the root of the Redskins problems? Has her terrible presence -- or claimed presence -- in association with the Skins been jinxing things for D.C.'s beloved team?
As if we didn't have enough reasons to loathe her.
