Gaithersburg Hit-and-Run Investigated as a Homicide

Montgomery County police say that they are investigating a strange hit-and-run incident as a homicide.

Shortly after 1 a.m. police from Gaithersburg responded to the report of a pedestrian struck on W. Diamond Avenue. On the scene, police found a deceased victim and a surviving victim. The survivor told police that the deceased was his 34-year-old brother and they had received a ride by people in a black Honda Civic.

After the driver of the Civic dropped them off, they began walking west on W. Diamond Avenue. They were then struck by a black Honda Civic -- the survivor told police he believed it was the same car they had been riding in.

Police found a black Honda Civic in the Gaitherstown Shopping Center -- they said it was unoccipied and bore damage consistent with a pedestrian collision. Investigators are attempting to contact the owner and find out who was driving the vehicle.
