Firefighters, family and friends came together Tuesday for the funeral of Marc E. Dancy. The viewing and service were held at the East Washington Heights Baptist Church in Southeast.

Dancy was a 5-year veteran of the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services stationed in the Trinidad neighborhood fire station. According to D.C. Fire spokesman Pete Peringer, it is the busiest unit in the nation.

A large contingent of his fellow firefighters went to remember their colleague. The D.C. Fire Department's Emerald Society Pipes and Drums played music to honor his memory.

Dancy had a wife and three children ages 8, 10 and 16 in Clinton, Md. He also is survived by his parents and many aunts and uncles.

The 37-year-old was off duty when he was found dead in Northeast on Sunday. An investigation is under way. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
