The local National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for small streams in Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William County for Wednesday.
A flood warning means that flooding has been reported, although flash flooding is not expected.
Just after 4 a.m., officials reported a number of roads closed because of runoff from earlier rainfall. They said gages indicated streams and creeks are still rising and flood waters will take a little longer to recede.
The National Weather Service reminds motorists to never drive a vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway because flood waters are usually deeper than they appear.
The warning is in effect until 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
