Fire Breaks Out at Bailey's Crossroads Mattress Store

Firefighters found mattresses on fire when they entered the building

Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at a mattress store in the Bailey's Crossroads area of Fairfax County, Virginia, during the Friday evening rush.

Mattresses were on fire at Overstock Mattress at 5912 Leesburg Pike, Fairfax County about 4:45 p.m., fire officials said. That block of Leesburg Pike was closed as firefighters fought the blaze.

Video from Chopper4 shows plumes of smoke rising from the building.

The fire was extinguished about an hour later.

After the fire was out, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department tweeted photos that show charred mattresses at the entrance of the store and soot covering the doors. The store appears to have sustained a significant amount of damage.

The mattress store is in a shopping center that also houses a laundromat, a market and other shops and restaurants. It is not known if any other businesses were damaged.

There are no reports of injuries at this time, according to the fire department.

No further information was immediately available.
