Father of Three Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A 52-year-old motorcyclist died after he was struck by a car in Bethesda, Maryland, Sunday afternoon.

An 85-year-old woman was driving a 2005 Honda Accord north on Old Georgetown Road when she tried to turn left onto Lone Oak Drive shortly before 1 p.m. She struck Gary Seward, who was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson south on Old Georgetown Road, according to Montgomery County Police.

Seward died at Suburban Hospital.

“He was just so loving,” his daughter Layla Seward said. “He taught us everything we knew, shared everything – the love and everything.”

Seward was part of a motorcycle club.

“He’s like, ‘Layla, I would ride all the time before you kids were born,’” his daughter said.

It’s too soon to say whether the driver of the Accord will be charged, according to police. They are re-interviewing witnesses and examining the light cycle at the intersection.

“Investigations like these take weeks,” Capt. Paul Starks said. “Once the report is completed, the results are submitted to members of the state’s attorney’s office, and it’s there that charges, if any, are discussed.”

Seward is survived by his wife and three children.

“He’s always going to be there for me, I know it,” Layla Seward said.
