If you usually take Randolph Road through the Wheaton area, well ... don't!

A large tree brought down power lines and a utility pole overnight near Denley Road. Randolph Road has been shut down in both directions so that repairs can be made.

Traffic is being detoured between Connecticut Avenue and Georgia Avenue, but long traffic delays are expected.

Police on the scene have been told that it could be noon or later before the repairs are completed.

NBC4 traffic reporter Jerry Edwards said to use Weller Road is a direct cut-through between Georgia and Connecticut avenues.
