Slain Ellicott City Priest Remembered

Funeral services were held for Rev. Mary-Marguerite Kohn

Family and friends said goodbye to a Maryland priest shot and killed inside her own parish in Ellicott City.

The Rev. Mary-Marguerite Kohn was laid to rest Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore. She and another church employee were shot by a homeless man inside St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Thursday, police said.

After the shooting, the gunman, 56-year-old Douglas Jones, ran into nearby woods and killed himself, police said. He was upset because he was turned away from the church’s food bank for aggressive behavior.

Brenda Brewington, the other victim, will be laid to rest this Thursday at St. John's Parish in Ellicott City.
