A woman found out how rigid the law can be, when she crashed her car into the Frederick County courthouse.

Police said the woman was in the middle of Frederick driving her car the wrong way on West Patrick Street.  Her car is believed to have struck several other vehicles and a fire hydrant before impacting the court house.

The driver, 20-year-old Alexandra Penate, was listed in critical condition after the crash. She was receiving treatment at the U-Md. Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

According to investigators, Penate may have been fleeing from a dispute at a gas station a mile away.  Police said the woman is a resident of Hyattsville.
