DC Police Seek Person of Interest in String of Robberies at DC Businesses

D.C. police are asking for help identifying and finding a person of interest in five robberies and an attempted robbery at local businesses, including one armed incident.

Police said all six crimes happened within a three-week span in January -- including three that all happened Sunday. Two of those crimes happened within minutes of each other, just a block apart.

All of the robberies occured at D.C. businesses at different times of day. 

On Monday, police released the locations and video footage of the incidents:

  • Armed Robbery of an Establishment (Gun): 300 block of 40th Street NE on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at about 9:07 a.m. See video footage here.
  • Robbery of an Establishment (Fear): 1100 block of 19th Street NW on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at around 4:51 p.m. See video footage here.
  • Robbery of an Establishment (Fear): 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue NE on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at about 8:05 p.m.
  • Attempt Robbery of an Establishment (Fear): 4200 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE on Sunday, Jan. 31 at approximately 1:47 p.m.
  • Robbery of an Establishment (Fear): 4300 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE on Sunday, Jan. 31 at around 2:05 p.m. See video footage here.

Police believe one man may be connected to all six crimes. The person of interest is described as bald, 5-foot-9 inches, weighing 170 pounds and about 40 to 45 years old. Police said he has a medium complexion, thick-rimmed glasses, facial hair and might have a birthmark under his left eye.
