A Washington group that provides home-delivered meals and groceries to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other illnesses is expanding its normal delivery for Thanksgiving.

Food & Friends planned to feed almost 3,500 people on Thursday.

Staff and volunteers prepared 8,400 pounds of turkey, 975 pounds of cornbread stuffing and 1,050 pounds of potatoes.

D.C. City Council members Muriel Bowser, Michael Brown and Harry Thomas Jr. planned to volunteer with the group Thursday morning.
