Convicted Killer to Be Tried for Slaying in Md.

A man convicted of murder in the District of Columbia is now facing trial in Maryland for another slaying.

Twenty-one-year-old Joshua Mebane was convicted of killing 44-year-old cab driver Quadar Muhammad in Washington in November 2012. Mebane was 17 years old at the time of the slaying.

Less than two weeks earlier, prosecutors say Mebane shot a woman and her husband as they walked their dog in Waldorf. Teresa Bass was killed and her husband, Jerry Bass, was critically wounded but survived.

Mebane is serving a 45-year prison sentence for the slaying in Washington. He was taken from a federal prison to the Charles County jail on Friday, and he'll be arraigned Monday on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges.
