A car and a Montgomery County school bus collided Friday afternoon, injuring seven students and the bus driver, authorities said.

The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. at Georgia Avenue and Hathaway Drive, county fire department spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia said. Thirteen Northwood High School students were aboard the bus.

Seven students were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The bus driver also was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. On person in the car suffered serious injuries, Garcia said.

The car apparently broadsided the bus, Garcia said.

Fire and school officials are contacting parents and helping students get home. Police are investigating the crash.
