A woman was confronted by an armed man in her Northwest D.C. home Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The woman told police she was in the basement of a home in the 3500 block of 13th Street NW about 3:30 p.m. when she heard a loud bang and movement in the house. She thought it was her roommate and she went upstairs.
A man grabbed the woman and threw her onto a chair in the living room, police said.
The man pointed a handgun at her and said, “Give me the money, or I will kill you.”
The man took the woman’s wallet from her handbag, then dragged her back into the basement, police said. He put her in a corner and told her not to move.
While he continued to go through the house, the woman locked herself in a room in the basement and called police.
