The University of Mary Washington is partnering with the George Washington University's medical school to help students pursue medical degrees.
Honors program students at Mary Washington are guaranteed early acceptance to GW's School of Medicine and Health Sciences under a memorandum of understanding signed by both schools Tuesday.
Mary Washington College of Arts and Sciences dean Richard Finkelstein says honors students can gain acceptance to medical school during the summer following their sophomore year.
Finkelstein says in a Wednesday news release that students will have additional time to pursue research or liberal arts course work because they won't be taking the Medical College Admission Test.
