ATV Driver Dies After Maryland Crash

Investigators do not believe ATV driver was wearing a helmet

The driver of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) died Monday evening after a collision with a car, officials said. 

A Lexus IS300 traveling east on Whites Ferry Road collided with the four-wheel ATV traveling north on Sugarland Road shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, Montgomery County Police said.  

The ATV driver, 26-year-old Mark Douglas Hutchinson of Boyds, was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police said they do not believe he was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Lexus, 19-year-old Mary Jane Chinchilla of Germantown, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.
