911 Callers Reported Bikers Popping Wheelies, Weaving Through Traffic on Beltway

When dozens of dirt bikes, motorcycles and ATVs hit the streets of D.C., Maryland and Virginia last week, several people reported the group to 911.

The group performed tricks and even drove the wrong way, bringing traffic to a standstill Dec. 27.

Several people in Prince George’s County called 911 to report what they saw on the Beltway.

“There’s 20 or 30 of them, weaving in and out of traffic, extremely aggressive and actually scary,” one caller said.

Another caller, who was headed north, saw the group heading south near Route 4.

“There’s a group of about 30-50, maybe more, motorcycle riders popping wheelies and riding unsafely,” he said. “Looks like they’re deliberately slowing down traffic.”

Another man saw them near Exit 13.

“There’s about 30 ATVs, sports bikes, motorbikes on the highway blocking traffic, doing tricks on the highway, really holding up traffic,” he said. “One almost hit another vehicle.”

The owner of a bike business in Suitland, Maryland, posted on Instagram that the group had no plans to disrupt traffic. According to WTOP, Bikelife said the bikers simply wanted to enjoy the nice weather. They said they've been getting backlash since the video was posted online.
