A 9-year-old boy in Prince George's County has died after he was hit by a SUV in Bowie Sunday night.

Police say the child, Jahbari Jawon Howe, of the 12700 block of Libertys Delight Drive in Bowie, Md. was struck by a SUV while he was riding his bike at about 7 p.m. in the 12800 block of Woodmore North Boulevard.

Howe was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. He died Tuesday.

The driver of the Infinity QX56 was traveling on Woodmoore North Boulevard, and Howe was riding his bike in the opposite direction, according to a preliminary investigation.

Howe abruptly turned into the direction of the SUV before he was hit.

The driver remained on the scene.

Neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be a factor in the accident. No charges have been filed.
