A 4-year-old boy was hit by a car and killed after he chased a ball into the street, D.C. police said.
The boy darted out between cars in the 1700 block of Montello Avenue in Northeast Thursday evening before anyone could stop him, police said.
The driver of the Dodge Charger was not speeding and stopped immediately to help, investigators said.
The boy was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He had five brothers and sisters, Councilman Harry Thomas Jr. told News4.
Police used the tragedy to remind parents to keep a close eye on their kids and to teach their kids to be careful.
