3 Officers, 1 Woman Injured in Multi-Car Crash on I-395

Four people, including three Metro Transit Police officers, have been transported to the hospital following a crash on Interstate 395.

Metro Transit police said the chain reaction crash occurred Saturday night after a woman stopped her car on the highway.

Officials were responding to an emergency call in Fairfax County when the car slowed down and stopped. Police swerved their vehicles to avoid hitting the car, but one police car ended up sideswiping another police car in the process.

One of the police vehicles hit the car that had stopped. A third police car ran off the road hitting a Jersey wall.

Police have charged Mary H. Daniel, of Woodbridge, with stopping on a highway. It's unclear if she has an attorney. She was taken to Inova Alexandria Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Daniel and the officers were taken to George Washington University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the incident. All lanes were reopened by 1:41 a.m. Sunday.
