3 Fires in Pr. George's County

1 woman hospitalized in Upper Marlboro blaze

Firefighters in Prince George's County had a busy Sunday morning as three separate fires broke out in the space of less than eight hours.

The first fire broke out shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in a two-story home in the 5200 block of Palco Place in College Park. Investigators say the fire began in the basement and spread to the upper floors before eventually burning through the roof. No injuries were reported.

At around 3 a.m., another basement fire was sparked in a home in the 12800 block of Peachleaf Court in Upper Marlboro. Firefighters say an unconscious woman was removed from the house, treated on the scene, and transported to a local hospital, where she is in critical condition. The woman's identity was not released.

The third fire of the morning happened at around 8:30 a.m. on the second and third floors of a three-story apartment building in the 3500 block of Windom Road in Hyattsville. No injuries were reported.

The causes of the fires are still under investigation.
