3 Boys Drown In Federalsburg

Bodies discovered in local creek Sunday

Three children have been discovered drowned in a creek in Caroline County.

Investigators say that the three boys, two of whom were aged 12 and the other of whom was aged 8, were reported missing at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The boys had last been seen playing in the parking lot of the First Church of God on Bloomingdale Avenue, and the search by authorities widened when they didn't return to their homes Sunday morning.

The body of one of the 12-year-olds was found at around 10 a.m. Sunday in the nearby Marshy Hope Creek behind a cluster of homes on Old Denton Road. The 8-year-old was found around 15 minutes later and the third boy was found at around 1:15 p.m.

Investigators said that all three boys were from the Federalsburg area, though not all from the same family. The names of the boys are being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

It was announced Sunday that the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is taking over the investigation. Foul play is not considered a factor in the case.
