2 People Found Dead After Virginia Fire

Homicide detectives are investigating the deaths of two people after their bodies were found Wednesday inside a burning house in Fairfax, Virginia.

The house on the 12100 block of Fairfax Hunt Road, near Piney Branch Stream Valley Park, caught fire Wednesday morning. Firefighters responded about 11 a.m.

"There were 20 or 30-foot flames coming out of the roof over the garage," neighbor Liz Moysey said. "It was heartbreaking."

Video taken from the News4 chopper shows the roof of the house burned down to the beams. From the rear of the house, what appeared to be scaffolding was visible.

"You could hear the crackling of the wood burning. Compared to how quiet it is here, it was loud," another neighbor said. He called 911.

Sixty firefighters battled the blaze, which took 40 minutes to bring under control amid temperatures in the 90s.

Firefighters found two bodies inside the house and summoned help from the Fairfax County Police Department, which is investigating.

Police have not identified the two people.

Neighbors said a man who lived in the house sometimes was not seen for weeks or even months at a time. He moved into the house in the 1980s and worked as a defense contractor, they said.

Anyone with information for investigators is asked to call 1866-411-TIPS or 703-691-2131.
