Police in Laurel are investigating two apparently separate armed robberies that took place Friday night in Laurel.

The first robbery occurred just after 8 p.m. at the Sunoco gas station at 820 Second Street. Police say that two people entered armed with knives and wearing masks. One of the suspects placed his knife against an employee's chest and demanded money, before the two men fled the area. It is not known how much money the suspects made off with.

Police say that one of the suspects was wearing a black ski masks, a black sweatshirt and gray pants.

Then, at around 9:30 the same evening, investigators say that two people wearing black clothing and ski masks demanded money from someone who was walking along a footpath between Summerlyn Apartments and the Laurel Rescue Squad building in the 14910 block of Bowie Road. The suspects fled after taking the victim's wallet. No description was immediately available.

Anyone with information about either crime is asked to contact Laurel Police at (301) 498-0092.
